About Tom Box

Growing up I was obsessed with animation, my favorite film was Who Framed Roger Rabbit and I'd spend endless hours crafting stop motion videos in my bedroom.

When I was about 6 years old my dad brought home a BBC Micro computer and I discovered the fulfilling joy that comes from coding; from the fun of solving tons of bite-sized problem to the satisfaction of seeing the resulting codebase working - especially when it makes pretty pictures!

I started to experiment with writing code that animates on screen and found it endlessly fascinating. Just Toy Story was released to the world, I was doing my GCSEs and saw that Bournemouth Universty actually did a degree in this exact subject! I set my sights on getting onto the course, picking my A Levels (Art, Maths, Computing) and got my place.

In the third year, I started a company with a few classmates, and over two decades later, that company - Blue Zoo Animation, is now one of the leading animation studios in the UK.
